Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) explains the rules for using OpenLiti and is designed to help keep our Services safe, reliable, and useful for everyone.

This Policy applies to all users of OpenLiti and forms part of our Terms of Service.

By using OpenLiti, you agree to comply with this Policy.

1. Use OpenLiti Lawfully

You may use OpenLiti only for lawful purposes and in accordance with our Terms of Service and applicable laws.

You are responsible for the files, text, documents, and other content you upload, submit, process, or create through OpenLiti.

You must not use OpenLiti to facilitate illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, or abusive activities.

2. Content You Upload

OpenLiti allows users to upload files and submit text to create flashcards and other study materials.

You must have the necessary rights or permissions to use the content you submit.

You must not knowingly upload, submit, process, store, or distribute content that:

  • Infringes copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights.
  • Violates another person’s privacy or legal rights.
  • Contains malicious software, viruses, or harmful code.
  • Is intended to facilitate fraud, scams, or other unlawful activities.
  • Is otherwise prohibited by applicable law.

3. Abuse of the Service

You must not interfere with, damage, disrupt, or misuse OpenLiti or its underlying infrastructure.

Prohibited activities include:

  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, servers, databases, or networks.
  • Circumventing security measures, access controls, usage limits, or account restrictions.
  • Intentionally overloading or disrupting the Services.
  • Introducing viruses, malware, malicious code, or other harmful technologies.
  • Testing or probing vulnerabilities without our authorization.
  • Exploiting bugs or technical vulnerabilities for unauthorized purposes.
  • Using OpenLiti in a way that materially interferes with other users’ access to the Services.

4. Automated Access

Unless expressly authorized by OpenLiti, you may not use bots, scripts, crawlers, scrapers, or other automated systems to:

  • Extract content or data from OpenLiti at scale.
  • Create accounts automatically.
  • Circumvent usage or rate limits.
  • Generate excessive or abusive requests.
  • Copy or reproduce substantial portions of the Services.
  • Interfere with the normal operation of OpenLiti.

Normal use of features and integrations expressly provided or authorized by OpenLiti is permitted.

5. Account Misuse

You are responsible for activity conducted through your account.

You must not:

  • Access another user’s account without permission.
  • Obtain or attempt to obtain another user’s login credentials.
  • Impersonate another person or organization in a deceptive manner.
  • Use accounts to circumvent restrictions imposed on another account.
  • Sell, rent, or transfer access to an account where such activity is not permitted by OpenLiti.

If you believe your account has been compromised, you should contact us promptly.

6. Fraud and Payment Abuse

You must not use OpenLiti to engage in payment fraud or abuse paid services.

This includes:

  • Using stolen or unauthorized payment information.
  • Making fraudulent payment disputes or chargebacks.
  • Repeatedly purchasing and refunding services for the purpose of obtaining unpaid access.
  • Manipulating payment systems, subscriptions, credits, or usage limits.
  • Attempting to obtain paid features without authorization or payment.

We may restrict or suspend accounts where we reasonably believe payment fraud or abuse has occurred.

7. Intellectual Property

You must respect the intellectual property rights of OpenLiti and third parties.

You may not use the Services to systematically reproduce, distribute, or make unauthorized copies of copyrighted books, courses, educational materials, publications, or other protected works.

Creating flashcards for learning purposes does not automatically grant permission to reproduce or distribute copyrighted source materials.

8. Security

You must not use OpenLiti for activities that compromise the security of the Services or other users.

You must not attempt to:

  • Discover passwords, authentication credentials, or security tokens belonging to others.
  • Bypass authentication or authorization systems.
  • Access data that you are not authorized to access.
  • Disrupt, disable, or compromise security mechanisms.
  • Use the Services to distribute malware or conduct attacks against other systems.

Security vulnerabilities should be reported to OpenLiti rather than exploited.

9. Excessive or Abusive Usage

OpenLiti may apply reasonable technical limits to protect the reliability and availability of the Services.

You must not intentionally circumvent these limits or use the Services in a manner that creates excessive technical load, materially degrades performance, or prevents other users from accessing OpenLiti normally.

Paid access does not provide an unrestricted right to use the Services in a way that harms or disrupts the platform.

10. Enforcement

If we reasonably determine that your use of OpenLiti violates this Policy, our Terms of Service, or applicable law, we may take appropriate action.

Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, this may include:

  • Warning you about the violation.
  • Removing or restricting access to content.
  • Temporarily restricting certain features.
  • Suspending your account.
  • Terminating your account.
  • Taking measures necessary to protect OpenLiti, our users, or third parties.

Serious violations may result in immediate action without prior notice where reasonably necessary.

11. Reporting Violations

If you believe someone is using OpenLiti in violation of this Policy, you may report the issue to us.

Please provide enough information for us to understand and investigate the reported activity.

Copyright infringement reports should be submitted according to our Copyright Policy.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to reflect changes to OpenLiti, our practices, security requirements, or applicable laws.

When changes are made, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
